Who is 4d Proof?
Patrick May founded 4d Proof LLC in 2017, after almost 12 years working in architecture. He graduated with a degree in Architecture from the University of Oregon and worked for several firms on a wide range of project types; from historic preservation, residential remodel, office and retail, spec home and stock plans, and even the epitome of high end custom residential projects.
After the family outgrew the big city, and a move to a more affordable locale was necessary, Patrick relocated his family back to his roots; in the Willamette Valley of Oregon. Settled back in his comfort zone, he took to helping everyone he could with BIM integration, design solutions, training, and more.
4d Proof has been largely a collaborative effort, to put the dimension of time into their notion of what architecture and BIM are, the 4th Dimension or Architecture. Working closely with other top BIM consultants and architects, we have been pushing the limits of what BIM authorship and coordination can mean for residential projects; never settling for the ‘this is how we have always done it’ reasoning.
What has 4d Proof Done?
4d Proof has a divers range of BIM-centric interests. From residential design, architectural consultation, asset development, and even full BIM coordination and management.
Patrick has spoken at several conferences on the merits of BIM, training architects to optimize their systems and workflows and more.
4d Proof regularly beta tests for software companies and explores new software and workflows to add to any architects kit of tools and tricks. Recently Patrick was awarded a top beta tester honor by Graphisoft for running Archicad 28 through the wringer.
We also pioneered a unique approach to GDL scripting for beginners that requires little to no actual script knowledge. This method was recognized by Architosh at a conference in Las Vegas in 2017; comically yet poetically described the presentation as:
”This non-programmer young architect… instantly became akin to a poet rocker like Bob Dylan after he masterfully demonstrated a simple approach to a powerful technology”

We have also attended and presented at several Archicad By The Beach events, and were even recognized as ‘best presenter of the conference’.

Suffice to say, we are passionate about BIM, excited about BIM authoring and coordination, and in love with good design and architecture.
